Marlay Shutout 7 lost a classic top of the table clash 20-19 when the Kegs came back in the bottom of seven to snatch victory

In a classic back and forth game in which the lead changed on several occasions, Kiely's Kegs stunned the Shutout7, coming back from 5 runs down in the bottom of the 7th to secure the 2010 Leinster League Division one title on Wednesday.

Marlay spoke before the game about putting runs on the board and putting the pressure on the Kegs to play catch up and that is exactly what they did with a string of base hits giving the SO7 a 3 run lead by the time the Kegs had their first chance to bat and adding runs in every inning en route to a 19 run total.

From start to finish, both team had their ups and downs and in truth, perhaps neither team deserved to lose. Repeatedly, the Kegs threatened to pull away at the bottom of an inning and each time, the SO7 managed to fight their way right back into the game and managed to take a 5 run lead into the bottom of the last inning.

Unfortunately the Kegs bats then came alive and a two run walk off Home Run by Richie Thompson was the final nail in the coffin as they Kegs won 20-19.

The result means that Kegs are Division 1 champions and playing in Prem in 2011. Marlay need one more win to guarantee second place and playoff against the 7th placed Premier Division team.
