Shutout 7 Progress to Next Round

Marlay Shutout 7 join Martyrs in Round 2 of the Cup

Marlay Shut Out 7 progressed to the 2nd round of the Brian Walshe cup with a 23-7 victory over the Belfast Brawlers on Sunday.

Despite having to give Colum from the prem team gametime, we had a strong line up out with both Declan Burke and Caroline Murphy making their debuts for the team.

We managed to keep the score board ticking over from the very first inning, taking the lead Bottom one with 2 runs and only building on it from there on out. Andy Haydu was a beast offensively, going 5/5 with 9 total bases and playing his usual gold glove defense while being joined on the left of the Infield by Clay Dempsey, who made a series of ridiculously good defensive plays that would not have been out of place on the National Squad.

For the girls, Ebby Stafford made her season debut and had a couple of hits while playing Left Field and second base, while Jeanette and Kelly were a force as usual on the right side of the infield.

It was a pretty comfortable victory in the end and so we go marching through to the next round of the Cup, where we face the Kegs on Wed the 9th of June!
