What is your role in the Irish Squad for the upcoming tournament?
To hit, catch and throw. All seriousness it’s about being a team player, when you are on the field giving a 110% every time you field or bat, if you are not on the team on the field it’s about being 110% behind the 10 that are and doing everything you can to make sure we win the tournament.
Ireland have a lot of good players and no matter what 10 are on the field we will give everything we have to bring home the trophy.
How much of a step up is it from Premier Division Softball to International competition and what are the major differences?
There is not a massive step from Premier Division to International, the main difference I find is that you have to work harder for your extra base hits, very few soft arms in the outfield. Fielding wise, errors get punished further and every batter is looking to get to two.
The upper Premier Division teams are all good units.

Favourite MLB team and why?
Boston Redsox. My first MLB experience and I like the way the ball club plays… The ability to still be arrogant without winning anything always reminds me of Marlay!
Best player you've played with/against?
Played against – Steve Hazard – rocket arm
Played with – Mel sounds bias, but when you roll her ability plus on field leadership together I have played with nothing better.
Who wears the trousers in your house; You or Mel?
Mel, I wear shorts.
If you could have one superpower, what would it be?
Speed, like the Flash!
If you could have one of Mel's skills on the Softball field, what would it be?

What are your hopes for the 2nd half of the season with the Martyrs?
7 & 0 and win the league. I hope we keep the performances coming, we are playing well and need a little luck. Our target was top 4 and we are on course for that.
Where do you see the Club being in 5 years?
4 teams, league champions and with our own designated softball field!

What do you think of the comparisons between you and the Kenny Powers character in "Eastbound and Down", the tv show about a washed up Major League Baseball player?
Honoured, he has everything – class, sophistication and he is Kenny Powers, the greatest player ever born
Best and Worst thing about being Captain??
Best thing is you get to be in charge, worst thing is you get to be in charge.
Hardest thing is to make the calls on close selections.
