Marlay Martyrs lose week 9 game 4-1 in Premier Division to Batpak
Who stole our bats?? Was the questions asked by the Matyrs team as not for the first time this season they failed to hit in a Premier Division loss.
Marlay travelled to St. Annes park to take on the defending champions with their eyes firmly set on a top three finish. The game didnt start well as the local soccer team decided to some pre-season training in the middle of the outfield and after some unsuccessful negotiations between the umpire, Batpak and the footballers, they refused to move and the Ump decreed the ball was live if it hit them...
What proceeded was potentially one of the worst games of softball that took place in the Premier Division, granted there was some very solid defending but there was very little hitting... and one paragraph will outline the game.
Marlay had 5 hits between 3 players and scored 1 run (Colum 2 x 3B, Adrian 2 x 1B, Conor 1 x 1B). Batpak had six hits and scored 4 runs. Batpak won the game 4-1.
Which brings us back to the first questions, who has stolen the Martyrs bats?? If found, please return to Marlay Martyrs on Tuesday July 27 in Marlay Park as they take on Dodder |
