Marlay lost their fourth league game of the season 19-5 to Oddsox Green on Tuesday night
Marlay had come into the game on the back of a tough bottom of 7 loss to Batpak in week 7 of the league hoping to get their own league challenge back on course.
Tight opening 3 innings saw Marlay lead the game 4-3 at the bottom of 2 and tied 5-5 at the bottom of 3 as the new look Martyrs team tried to put early pressure on the league leaders. Unfortunately the Greens found their bats at the top of 5 and knocked in 10 unanswered runs to give them a commanding 10 run lead.
A shell shocked Marlay team tried to get back into the game but the Greens middle infield dominated the game turning back to back double plays in the fourth and fifth innings as Marlay tried to create momentum.
A comfortable win for the Greens in the end but all was not lost with Marc and Kelly making their first prem appearances of the summer and Darren once more coming into close out the game with another impressive 2 innings of pitching.
League now enter a break week for the European Championships with the Martyrs next game versus the Sluggers. |
