Match Report The weatherman had promised us blistering sunshine and record heat for this one, but unfortunately the rain came to visit instead. Marlay took on a new look and newly named Renegades Red in Tuesday nights premier division game and did enough to take league win number two for the season. Neither team had a good day at the office with a number of errors in the field not helping. Marlay took advantage of some of the unfortunate and completely unpredictable hops in the field to take a commanding 9 to 1 lead at bottom of 4. Some neat defence by the Marlay infield through 4, 5, and 6 stranded Renegade runners as they tried to mount a comeback whilst Marlay tagged on 4 insurance runs. Marlay knew from previous experience that this experienced Renegade team would come back again and right we were as Renegades scored 4 at top of 7 and had runners in scoring positions through some good hitting and errors in the field when Marlay got the third out. There was no 7th inning come from behind victory for Renegades this time but I am sure they are thinking there is always the next one! Conor Sayles led the men’s batting with a 4 for 4 game, whilst Melanie and Lisa led the girls with .500 day each. Next up is the completion of the Blazzers game from week 1 followed by Sluggers. |
