The Braves travelled to Eamon Ceannt Park for their 2nd game of the season against the 1Z Blazers.
The game was delayed by almost 40 minutes as the teams waited for at least one the three kid's football games, which dominated the playing area, to come to an end. Thankfully, unlike the Martyrs visit to the same venue in Week 1, the Division 2 fixture still managed to get in a full game. The Braves struggled to get out of first gear and allowed the 1Zs to race into an early lead. Some good base running and two out hitting saw the 1Zs plate more than 5 runs in both the 2nd and 3rd innings. The away team started to close the door and pick up some runs of their own as the game wore on but the deficit proved to be too much despite a couple of HRs, including one from rookie Declan Burke. The game ended 19-9 to the more experienced 1Zs with the Braves looking forward to better days ahead. |
