Marlay Softball Club is recruiting new players for the 2010 Spring/Summer season. Male and female players of all levels of ability, experience and age are welcome.
Co-ed Slowpitch Softball
The club plays co-ed slowpitch softball out of Marlay Park. The game is very similar to baseball or rounders. Teams consist of 5 men and 5 women. The ball is larger than a baseball (but is not soft!) and the game is played with under arm pitching.
Mid Week League and Weekend Tournaments
We have three teams in the Leinster League and we also regularly enter tournaments in Ireland and the UK. League games are held mid week in public parks and schools in the Dublin area. Tournaments are held at the weekend over one or two days.
Sunday Practice
We practice on Sunday afternoons in Marlay Park. These sessions include drills to develop and improve individual skills and teamwork, plus a practice game. Our three teams train together, but we ensure that all skill levels are catered for.
Social
Softball is a great opportunity to keep fit and meet new people, there is a great social aspect to the sport. Most teams will meet up for a few drinks after games and practices, and parties are held during the major tournaments.
