Martyrs and Shutout 7 Fall at Semi-Final Stage
On a cold Saturday morning in ALSAA Marlay Shutout 7 and Marlay Martyrs lost their respective Plate and Cup semi finals. Marlay Shutout 7 went into the game a little understrength but still remained favourites and took an early lead. In a close game that was always going to be decided by one inning Marlay Shutout7 had a poor 4th inning giving the Flyers a 9 run lead a lead which was too much for the Marlay team to chase down. In the second semi final of the day for the club, Marlay Martyrs took on the newly crowned European Champions in their first game on home soil since winning it. Missing 4 regular starters Marlay Martyrs started slowly, but in what was always going to be a tight game errors were always going to decide this. And so it was with with 3 errors costing the Martyrs four runs, in a game that could have been with the tieing run left stranded on 3rd base in the Top of 7. Special mention to Panda who had a 4 for 4 debut for Marlay. In one sided finals both the victors of the Marlay teams lost. |
