An ebullient Julian Davis, chairperson of the Marlay Martyrs today announced that God has become a Marlay supporter.

‘I had a dream last night in which God appeared to me as a burning pitchers mound and announced that from now to eternity he would support Marlay.’

God will feel right at home

This will come as a great boost to the Marlay Softball Club.  ‘We have always had great respect for the Judeo Christian tradition.  I am sure God will feel right at home with our other supporters, Allah, Krishna, Moloch and Ahura Mazda (supreme Deity of the Zoroastrians) to name but a few.’

‘There can be little doubt, with all the really big deities on our side that 1998 will be the year of evangelical fervour for the Martyrs as we smite the Godless ones on the pitch.’
