“to err is human” Marlay Softball Club was established in 1988 and is based in Marlay Park in Dublin, Ireland. The club competes in the Leinster Softball League and other tournaments organised by Softball Ireland. We first travelled abroad in 1998 to celebrate its 10th anniversary. We have since appeared at tournaments in Edinburgh, Windsor and Glasgow in the UK plus Las Vegas and Phoenix in the USA. In recent years the club has travelled to at least one tournament outside of Ireland every year. The club was extremely successful in the 1990s with numerous league championships collected plus a variety of tournament titles. Following a swift fall from grace in 2004-2005, the club has recovered and is back competing at the highest level as well as developing new players for the future. In 2008 the club regained its status as one of the largest non university clubs in Ireland when it merged with Shutout 7 from Firhouse and returned to fielding three teams in the league. Ireland has competed at international level in the ESF co-ed slowpitch championships since 1998 and has achieved a number of second and third place finishes. Marlay has been represented at every one of the biennial championships to date. The club is always looking to recruit new players, from complete beginners to experienced veterans. Email Conor at
